Internet connection slow in firefox 3.0

I am running Fedora 10 on my system with a 256 kbps broadband
connection, using Firefox 3.0. the Internet seems to run very slow on
Fedora.

While on Ubuntu it just works fine, I have not been able to figure
out any reason for this.
Solution:
Drop a file inside /etc/modprobe.d with the line

install ipv6 /bin/true

Then check. This disables IPv6.

A simple reboot would unload the module and the configuration
setting will prevent it from loading it.
